Hi, I'm Damian Szkatulski.
I produce electronic music as Black View and run Black View Studio, a boutique mastering studio focused on electronic music.
My journey with music began over 16 years ago behind the DJ decks. Since 2014, I have worked professionally as a producer and artist, releasing music through international labels and learning what a track needs before it reaches listeners, clubs and streaming platforms.
Today, I use that experience to help producers, artists and labels prepare music for release. Every project is approached with critical listening, direct communication and a clear understanding of its artistic and technical goal.
The Journey
I started with DJing. It quickly became clear that playing music was not enough. I wanted to understand how tracks were built and develop a sound of my own.
When I was 18, I got my first serious production setup. My mother bought it on credit, and I paid it back myself. That experience taught me responsibility, patience and the value of investing in long term development.
After a few years, I sold the entire setup and built a new production system. From that point, music production and sound became my main direction.
In 2014, I co-created Szkatulski & Kosmalski with Maciek Kosmalski. We released music on labels including Tenampa Recordings, Bouq, Natura Viva, Voltage Records and Downpour Recordings.
The next chapter was FESS, a producer and DJ duo created together with Maciek Kosmalski. In 2019, we released the album TRIP. Those years of producing, releasing and hearing music outside the studio shaped my understanding of balance, dynamics, low end control and translation.
Eventually, I understood that experience and equipment alone were not enough. Accurate and repeatable mastering decisions required a professionally treated room, reference monitoring and a carefully designed signal chain.
That realization became Black View Studio.
The Road to Black View Studio
Stage 1: DJing and First Productions
The journey began behind the DJ decks and continued with my first attempts at music production.
This was the foundation for learning arrangement, rhythm, sound selection and critical listening.
Stage 2: The First Serious Investment
My first serious production setup was an important personal and financial commitment.
It taught me that development requires responsibility, patience and consistent work.
Stage 3: A New Production Setup
After selling my first equipment, I built a new production system with better monitoring and greater control over sound.
This was also the beginning of the artistic direction that later became Black View
Stage 4: Releases and Market Experience
In 2014, the Szkatulski & Kosmalski project entered the international release market.
Working with labels gave me practical experience with production standards, professional communication, file delivery and preparing music for release.
Stage 5: Vinyl and a Higher Production Standard
One of the important stages was a vinyl release through Bouq in Berlin.
Hearing music outside the studio changes the way you evaluate sound. Details such as balance, dynamics, low end control and translation become much more important when the music reaches clubs, listeners and physical formats.
During the same period, the FESS project continued to develop.
The release of the TRIP album in 2019 became another major step in improving production quality and understanding how music should work beyond the studio environment.
Stage 6: The Decision to Build a Professional Studio
At a certain point, I understood that further progress required more than experience and new equipment.
I needed professional acoustics, reliable monitoring and a room designed specifically for critical listening.
That was the beginning of Black View Studio.
Stage 7: Built by Hand
The construction of the studio took approximately three years.
Budget limitations meant that I completed a large part of the work myself. Hundreds of hours went into construction, acoustic treatment, measurements, adjustments and detailed finishing work.
It was the most demanding stage of the journey and one of the most important lessons in consistency.
Stage 8: Opening Black View Studio
Black View Studio officially opened in 2021.
The completed room created a professional environment for mastering, mixing and critical listening, supported by a clearly defined and repeatable workflow.
Stage 9: Apple Digital Masters
Black View Studio has been listed as an Apple Digital Masters provider since 2022.
The studio can prepare high resolution masters according to the technical requirements used for Apple Music delivery.
Stage 10: The Current Studio
Today, Black View Studio combines a professionally treated room, reference monitoring, a hybrid analog and digital mastering chain, and detailed quality control.
The studio works remotely with independent artists, producers and labels.
Every project follows a consistent process from the initial material review to final file delivery.
Why Black View Studio?
The goal is not to make every track sound the same.
The goal is to understand the intention behind the music, identify what prevents it from translating correctly and make the decisions needed for release without removing its identity.
Every project is evaluated in relation to its genre, arrangement, reference tracks and intended release environment.
How We Work
The goal is simple.
Every track should be ready for release and translate consistently across different playback systems.
Each project follows a clear process:
• I review the material and define the main goal of the project.
• We discuss the intended release environment, including clubs, streaming platforms or label delivery.
• I select the appropriate workflow based on the material and the required level of control.
• I make critical decisions using reference monitoring in a professionally treated room.
• I verify tonal balance, dynamics, loudness, stereo image and low end translation.
• I prepare the required formats and complete the final quality control.
• When necessary, revisions are completed as part of the agreed process.
Available workflows include Hybrid Stereo Mastering, Hybrid Stem Mastering, Digital Mastering and Mix & Mastering.

This allows every project to receive direct communication, critical listening and a clearly defined goal from the first upload to final delivery.
You communicate directly with me throughout the process. There are no automated decisions and no transfer of the project between different engineers.
Black View Studio does not operate as a high volume mastering service.
Every track receives the time and attention required to understand the music, identify its technical needs and prepare it for the intended release environment.
